My Experience as Product Design Intern

What did I work on?

During the Summer of 2022, I interned at Twill (formerly Happify Health) as a Product Design Intern on the Twill Care digital app (formerly Kopa). I primarily focused on revamping and optimizing in-app user flows and rebranding designs, iterating through different prototypes for mobile/tablet/desktop features like Profile, Feed, and Explore.

I also worked on transferring and reorganizing app prototypes on Figma to improve working efficiency for designers and to better facilitate communications between the design team and the software engineers.

Another project I finished was redesigning the App Store preview screens and the Landing Pages for Twill Care, which are currently live online. Throughout the process I encountered multiple challenges with my iterations, such as including design concept not aligning with what branding team envisioned. With my proactive communication with managers and quick adaptability to new situations, I eventually finished up my project with designs that all teams felt proud of.

Design works are always at 99% done, and never hits 100%.

What are my takeaways?

Through this internship I not only developed my product design skills in a more professional setting, but also trained my soft skills like communication, storytelling/presenting ideas, and time management. Due to NDA I could not showcase more of my work, but I am proud to say that I now use Figma with better efficiency, improved my visual design skills, and most importantly, learned to always keep an open mind towards changes and feedback. Looking forward to exploring more on new feature development for our product! ✨
